Contemporary Portraits

Tanner created a unique way of painting someone's portrait. Using the most simple lines to represent an individual's features is not an easy task. Although there is less painting, this style actually takes longer than the traditional style. This style is similar to Patrick Nagel, however Tanner was doing this before Nagel was publishing his artwork.

My Three White Dresses

Tanner is the artist of a well-known LDS (Mormon) painting called "My Three White Dresses." This painting was created based on a poem written by Linda Perry Nelson. The theme of the poem and painting depict 3 dresses that a girl wears throughout her life and encourage her to keep morally clean. Prints and bookmarks of this painting can be found at Deseret Book.
